Ulun Danu Temple
Ulun Danu Temple is located in Bedugul area which is about 52 Km from Denpasar. The location of this temple is surrounded by the water in Bedugul Caldera, makes the weather here is cooler than other area in Bali, so we recommend you to bring a jumper if you come here in the morning. This temple has marvelous view with temple located on edge side of the Beratan Lake, even though the Indonesian government make picture of this temple in one of image on Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
The story of this temple began from The Mengwi Kingdom, by the King I Gusti Agung Putu in 1634, built this temple to thank Hindu God as representative of Hindu Trinity God (three manifestation of God) is Brahma, Wisnu, and Shiwa. This temple as built by Mengwi King to say thank you for Goddess of Water named Dewi Danu for the water that keeps coming to watering his Kingdom, it makes the farmer live in harmony because their rice and other crops well grow. This temple becomes the most important aspect for the farmer in whole over Bali to ask their prosperity.
As the other temple in Bali, Ulun Danu temple also divided by 3 courtyards called Tri Mandala, and on the other side of this temple you may see a mountain called Puncak Mangu. On this mountain also has the temple built together with Ulun Danu temple called Puncak Mangu Temple that used by the King to ask a weapon to defeat his enemy during his regime.
